MY EXPERIENCE IN CI HUI SCHOOL(我在慈晖学校的经历）

I mentioned before that traveling has always been in my blood. And so far this opportunity of living and working overseas is nothing but a dream come true.

My decision to teach English in China was not completely random. I had a diploma then went further for a Bachelor degree at the university after which I took a cause in TEFL. After my degree I worked as a teaching assistant (voluntary service) in my University for one year and I always enjoyed working with students. 

The last year of my study was crucial and at some point I had to decide what I was going to do once I graduate. I knew two things: I was the happiest person in the whole world when I was either traveling or teaching. 

My First and Second Impressions

The education system as a whole in China has many similarities to that of the United States; however, there are also some notable differences, which seem to mainly stem from the large population difference and the culture of the respective countries.

I firstly came to China in April 2012 where I worked in a high school in Longshan (a small town located in Hunan province) as well as a part-time English teacher in a training school in the same town, then private learning Centre in Guangrao (Shangdon province) and a Primary school in Jinan (Also in Shangdon). At first, I was a little bit scared, but I quickly adapted to a new teaching environment. I enjoyed my teaching job more and more each day.

At Shandong I was overwhelmed with the city – its huge shopping mall, supermarkets with plenty of foreign foods available, cinemas and theaters around, a huge train station and bus station. Something I have not seen in Leiyang. 

Living in Leiyang

Although I have been to lots of cities in china and worked in nice cities in shangdon, Living in Leiyang has been a quite tough for me as I find difficulties in adjusting myself to the life here (And sometimes I feel like leaving because their are other stuffs that am not comfortable with in Ci Hui School). However, I hope that sooner or later, I will get used to life here.

Working in Ci Hui Middle school 

Being in a new environment is not that easy, trying to fit into a new working environment with new working colleagues. However, as I navigate my new environment and my days here, I am struck with the following impressions:

Interesting People 

I am surrounded by like-minded people who are engaging, warm, and friendly. They are passionate about teaching and they’re willing to go anywhere this profession takes them. Not only the teachers are interesting but have wonderful , funny ,welcoming and lovely students. It is, above all, a lot of fun. Fun, fun, fun. These students want to play around and laugh a lot. They are extremely active and amusing. There is no way you can enter the classroom without being noticed by them. Once they see me, they always welcome me with a song or a smile with happiness written all over their faces.

Unlike other schools, it took time for me to get along with the teachers and the students but in Ci hui, barely a week and that is very touching.

Generally, I must say that Teacher-Students relationship in Ci Hui School is positive and long lasting implication for students' academic and social development.

Ci Hui Campus 

The facilities at Ci Hui School are conducive and beyond compare of the middle school I taught in Longshan (Xiangxi, Hunan). Unlike Schools in Shangdon, their quite bigger with more facilities than Ci Hui. The other benefit of working in this environment is that, all of these amazing resources are not just for students; teachers also have access to the facilities. Unlike Ci hui, In Longshan, the school did not have enough facilities for students to engage themselves in a number of sporting activities. 

With my special Interest in playing pin-pang , and going for night running, They have a place for these activities to be carried out. I can now look forward to introducing some new and fun hobbies into my routine. 

Also, a number of fitness activities are carried out almost every morning and noon to keep students healthy and fit. Which I did not see in some of the school I have taught in china 

Teaching English at Ci hui School 

Being around students makes me feel much younger and more energetic. My English classes look like a stress free classes. We learn english through fun and happiness, No tension in the class so everyone is free to speak english without feeling shy or afraid of making a mistake (I always tell them to fell free to speak english and if they make a mistake, I will correct them).  Though sometimes some are a little naughty, This is the only one way I keep them focused and involved into the lesson – through games and exercises. 

Generally, In all the schools I have been to, there are lots of students with keen interest in learning english. However,the rate at which some students in Ci Hui school are enthusiastic to learn English is impressive, Though, generally as compared to the schools I have taught before, they (Ci Hui Students) are oral english is not impressive enough, there are few who make the effort to put what they learn into practice. I must say learning a foreign language is not easy (I quite remember when I first came to china. It was very difficult for me to communicate with people and I had to use signs to express my self, hahahah,...It was very funny...Until I opted to learn Chinese language and In three months I was able to communicate with people without using signs), but most of the students show keen interest in the language, I can say that the only secrete to learning is that...AND THEY HAVE IT...。。。。。

  我曾经说过：旅游，这种‘嗜好’已经融入了我的血液里！          

  而且到目前为止，这种海外生活和工作的机会也只不过刚刚开始……

  我决定在中国教英语不是完全随意的，我在大学学士学位完成之后，拿到了文凭，继续参加外籍语言教师(英语类)职业培训（TEFL）,随后的一年，我在大学里志愿服务当助教，我很喜欢与学生打交道。

  去年，我的学术研究是至关重要的，在某些时候，当我毕业之时，我必须立刻知道，我要做什么！我知道两件事 ：当我旅游或教学的时候，我是世界上最幸福的人！

  我的第一次和第二次展顾:

  教育系统作为一个整体，中国与美国有许多相似之处，但是，也有一些显著地差异，这似乎主要是源于庞大的人口差异和各自国家的文化不同。

  在2012年4月，我第一次来到了中国，我曾经在湖南省龙山一个小镇的高中，以及在同一个镇的一所培训学校兼职英语教学。然后在山东省济南广饶私立小学教书。起初，我有点害怕，但我很快就适应了新的教学环境。以后，我越来越喜欢我的教学工作。

  在山东，我被淹没在大城市下，巨大的的商场和超市里充满了大量的外国食品。电影院·剧院·巨大的火车站·汽车站。都是一些我在耒阳看不到的东西。

  生活在耒阳：

  虽然，我到过中国的很多城市，在山东曾工作在漂亮的城市里，生活在耒阳曾一直相当艰难，因为，我觉得我很难调整这里的生活，有时，我觉得自己想离开;因为某些原因，在慈晖学校，我感到不舒服。不过，我希望、迟早我会习惯慈晖学校的生活。

  工作在慈晖中学:

  试图融于新的工作环境，熟悉新的工作伙伴，在一个新的环境里是不容易的。然而，我飘洋过海，来到新的环境，开始这里的生活时，我被下面的情景震惊了。

  有趣的人们：

  我周围充满了志同道合的人，他们热情，友好，参入。他们对教学充满了热情， 只要工作需要他们，愿意到任何地方去。不但教师充满了情趣，还有精彩，搞笑，温馨且可爱的学生们，首先是，学生们有很多乐趣，他们喜欢玩，喜欢笑，他们是非常积极和有趣的。有没有办法可以进入课堂，而又不被发现呢？一旦他们看到我，个个脸上写满了欢迎的笑容与幸福。与其他学校不同的是，我要花很久，才能与老师和学生相处，但在慈晖，几乎没有一个星期。这是非常感人的。我必须说，在慈晖学校，教师与学生的这种关系是积极和持久的。意味着学生的良好素质和时代的发展。

慈晖校园

  慈晖学校的教学设施是很好的，超过了我曾任教的湖南湘西龙山中学。但不像山东的学校，山东的教学设备很大，更先进，超过了慈晖。在这样的环境中，工作的好处是，所有这些惊人的资源不只是给学生，老师也使用这些设施。与慈晖不同，在龙山，学校没有足够的的场地设施，供学生从事一些体育活动。我的爱好是打乒乓球和上网学习。慈晖学校提供了这些，现在，我可以期待引入一些新的和有趣的方法到我的教学中，此外，一些健身活动的普遍开展，几乎每天早上和下午都在进行，以便学生保持健康，适宜的身体。这是我现在中国教书时，其他学校没有看到的情况。

  在慈晖学校的英语教学：

  被学生包围，让我觉得更年轻，更有活力。我的英语课看起来很民主，我们在娱乐中学习英语，每个人不用害怕和犯错。我一直鼓励他们，那怕他们犯错，我都会纠正他们。虽然，有时有一些调皮的学生，但我会通过游戏和练习，使他们的注意力集中，来听讲。一般情况下，在我到过的所有学校，很多学生对英语感兴趣，不过这个比列在慈晖学校，对英语的兴趣更要高！不过，比较我以前教过的学校，慈晖学生的口语还不行！很少有学生会把他们所学到的知识，放到实际中操练变成技能。我必须说，学习一门外语是不容易的（我记得，我第一次来中国的时候，我与人交流非常困难，我不得不用一些标志来表达我的意思，哈哈哈，这是非常有趣的，直到我选择了学习中国的语言，并在三个月内，我能够与人沟通，不使用标志。但大多数学生在语言学习中表现出了浓厚的兴趣！我可以说，学习英语的秘密——学生已经掌握了！
